Quality Assurance/Regulatory Compliance Specialist

Job Summary:

Candidate will support the activities of the QA & Regulatory Departments. Candidate will ensure vendor compliance with company policies, procedures, and guidelines.  Will assist in the implementation and improvement of the global quality and food safety programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs analytical and organoleptic tests of raw materials & finished products (sensory, physical, chemical, microbiological) to ensure compliance with standard & customer requirements.
  • Keep laboratory equipment operational by performing daily calibrations.
  • Responsible for laboratory record keeping and documentations.
  • Communicates effectively with all departments to support quality and food safety at all times
  • Research & obtain vendor data for entire raw material inventory, managing the following documentation:  specification sheets, safety data sheets, allergen, GMO, nutritional data, CA Prop 65, letter of guarantee, country of origin, etc.
  • Obtain & manage regulatory documentation for all vendors including: HACCP program, recall policy, FSMA compliance, FDA registration, certificates of insurance, 3rd party audit reports, questionnaires, etc.
  • Continuous implementation of raw material data updates utilizing various computer platforms.
  • Identify gaps and inefficiencies in regulatory documentation program & resolve w/ regulatory team.
  • Participate in all vendor & 3rd party audits
  • Obtain & manage Organic certification documents
  • Manage kosher certification program
  • Provide support to Quality Control Dept, R&D group & SQF Practitioner

 

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Food Science or related field
  • 5-10 years food/ingredient quality control/regulatory experience
  • Knowledge of analytical testing procedures including instrumentation and chemical analyses
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong Organoleptic Skills
  • Ability to read, comprehend and interpret regulatory information & requests
  • Ability to create & maintain multiple database management systems thoroughly and effectively
  • Clear & effective communication skills (both verbal & written)
  • Ability to make educated judgments on accuracy & appropriateness of information
  • Knowledge of food manufacturing regulatory requirements, HACCP, good manufacturing practices (GMP’s), SQF and related concepts
  • SQF Practitioner/PCQI/HACCP certified a strong plus
